The Doja Cat and Noah Schnapp Drama, Explained

Doja Cat is beefing with Stranger Things teen idol Noah Schnapp for revealing a private conversation in which the singer asked to be put in touch with ST season 4’s hunky breakout star Joseph Quinn. A screenshot of their exchange went viral after it was shared by Schnapp in a deleted TikTok—behavior Doja Cat has since labeled “degrading,” “exploitative,” and “super embarrassing.”

Here’s what went down. In the messages, Doja is seen asking: “Noah can u tell Joseph to hmu [hit me up]. wait no, does he have a gf [girlfriend]?” Schnapp playfully encourages her to “slide into his DMs” then directs her to Quinn’s Instagram account.

Clearly bothered by the share, Doja went live on TikTok on July 7 to vent “about the whole fuckin’ Noah Schnapp thing.”

“First let’s be chill about it,” she began. “To be fair, this is like, a kid. Noah is like, I don’t know how old he is, but he’s not even over—like there’s no way he’s over like 21.”

Schnapp, now 17, remains the youngest member of the show’s original cast.

“When you’re that young, you make mistakes,” Doja acknowledged. “You do dumb shit.  I’m like trying to be super fair. You say dumb shit, you fuck up relationships with people. You make mistakes. You’re supposed to do stuff like that so that you know not to do it in the future. I did my share of fuck-ups so that I don’t fuck-up again.”

The singer went on, “The fact that Noah did that. Like, went and posted a private conversation between me and him is so unbelievably socially unaware and whack./ That’s like borderline snake shit, that’s like weasel shit.

“And I’m not saying that encapsulates his entire personality,” Doja added. “Maybe he is, like, a whole snake. But I didn’t see him that way. I made an assumption that he was gonna be chill about it, and he went and shared information that I didn’t feel comfortable with him sharing.”

So, how did people respond to the drama?

The Grammy Award winner’s fiery response came as a surprise to many, given Schnapp’s age and Doja’s history of unabashed flirting online. In previous tweets, she has openly expressed her attraction to Quinn. In fact, Schnapp’s since-deleted TikTok juxtaposed their private exchange with a screenshot of Doja calling Quinn’s good looks “fucking criminal” in a Twitter reply to a fan.
