5 Reasons Why Logitech’s MX Master Mice Are Worth the Money

There once was a time when computer mice were fairly simple, and comparing one mouse to another was barely needed; you picked the cheapest one that could left-click and right-click with ease. Logitech first released the MX Master in 2015, which got lots of mainstream attention from tech enthusiasts on YouTube for its incredible design, comfort, and usability. Logitech has a full range of MX series mice and keyboards; on its website, Logitech states that these products “transform the way you work – from revolutionizing your creative process to helping you focus and get in your flow.”

Now, that’s some pretty cliché marketing, so why exactly is the MX Master 3S worth an astonishing $99?

1. The MX Master Is a Fantastic Example of Quality Over Quantity

When browsing in this price range, you may come across high-end gaming mice, such as the $99 Razer Basilisk V3, which has beautiful RGB lighting and over 11 programmable buttons. Well, the MX Master 3S, as well as its predecessors, have a total of seven. Despite this, it doesn’t really matter. What makes the biggest difference is how great they feel and how useful they are. These buttons include a side-scrolling wheel, thumb rest, left and right-click, vertical scroll wheel, plus back and forward buttons.

Each of these buttons is customizable in the Logitech Options software. It’s quick, incredibly easy to use, and looks great. Even by default, most people will like each button’s functionality. The side-scrolling wheel is a favorite, making navigating your timeline while editing audio or video very convenient. The MX Master comes with a compact USB receiver but is also Bluetooth enabled and can be used with up to three devices. Once paired, there is a button on the bottom of the mouse to switch between each device, and it works very quickly.

This is especially helpful for households with more laptops than desktops and don’t always need a mouse. However, when you do, the MX Master is incredibly convenient to switch between devices without a hiccup. Battery life is one of the most important specifications for any wireless accessory. The MX Master 3S can last for as long as 70 days on a single charge. After owning an MX Master for several years, this statistic seems to be fairly accurate. To make it last as long as possible, remember to turn off the mouse when not in use.

The MX Master 3S also charges via USB-C, making charging incredibly convenient. Logitech also states that one minute of charging results in three hours of use.

For comparison, Razer’s wireless Basilisk V3 mouse lasts 100 hours on a full charge, equivalent to about four days. This may depend on how often the RGB lighting is enabled, but at its core, that is a huge difference compared to the MX Master. 4. Adobe Creative Cloud Is Included With Any New MX Series Purchase

At the time of writing, Logitech has partnered with Adobe to offer customers one free month of Adobe CC with the purchase of any MX device, including an MX Master. This goes for those with an existing Adobe subscription, not only new customers. Adobe Creative Cloud includes several useful software tools for your artistic mind, so it’s worth checking out.

The full suite of Adobe CC apps is $54.99 per month or $19.99 per month for students and teachers. Despite only being a complimentary one-month subscription, this is a huge saving if you’re already an individual paying monthly for Adobe CC and use it daily.

5. The MX Master Is Comfortable to Use

Logitech seemed to pay careful attention when designing the first MX Master mouse. The above promotional video shows the process from carving the prototype out of wood to testing the click of each button. In Logitech’s press release from 2015, it states, “for people who work across multiple screens, devices and operating systems, the new mouse is optimized for controlling this complex environment with precision.”

It performs well in many of these scenarios, including advanced programs such as Adobe After Effects with long timelines and individual audio, video, and graphics sections. The mouse works well in everyday scenarios as well. It doesn’t matter if you have large or small hands; the MX Master is easy and comfortable to use. This is true if you’re a professional working with advanced programs and multiple monitors or simply playing The Sims.

The comfortability is due to its size, the texture and size of the thumb rest, the responsiveness of each click, and the ever-so-satisfying ticks of the scroll wheels.

Is Logitech’s MX Master Series Still Worth $99?

The answer to this question depends on who you are, as Logitech makes several other mice that would be just as good of a fit for you. The MX Anywhere retails for $79 and has the same great battery life with a modern design, but without the horizontal scroll wheel or thumb rest.

Logitech also sells mice as low as $29 for casual consumers, but if you’re someone who appreciates a mouse with an incredibly cool design, universally great reviews, and fantastic battery life, the MX Master Series is for you.
