Best Home Security Gear to Get

Black Friday is the perfect time to hunt great deals for everything and anything you may need. This time around, we’re focusing on the tools that can help us protect our homes in one way or another, whether we’re talking about cameras, smart gadgets that improve security, and so on.

These deals will help you save quite a bit of money, so let’s dive in and see what we managed to find.

Reolink is running a massive sale this Black Friday. This particular model has dropped a massive 42% and it’s the lowest price we’ve seen for this camera. This is a camera that records 2K videos, including at night. It works with both 2.4 and 5Ghz Wi-Fi and you need absolutely no wires to set this up.

MAKEUSEOF VIDEO OF THE DAY

It comes with its very own solar panel that helps power the camera. Then, it transmits the feed to the cloud, where recordings are kept for up to seven days. You can also add an SD card of up to 128GB if you want to also have on-device recordings.

The camera features smart detection software so it can send you alerts with snapshots when it detects people or cars. You can further customize your house security by enabling a siren, spotlights, and so on. This model used to cost $179.99, but it’s now only $104.99.

Ring Spotlight Cam Plus

If you want a cool solution for home security, there’s also the Ring cam that has its own spotlight. Just set this one up on your house, plug it in a regular outlet, and you’re good to go. When it detects something, the cam triggers the spotlight and lights up the area. Night video is also in color, which is pretty awesome.

This camera works with Alexa, so you can check the footage directly on your Echo Show device or on your phone. The camera allows two-way talk so you can chat with your visitors or issue warnings. If you get a Ring Protect Plan (between $39.99 and $200/year) your recordings will be kept in the cloud for up to 180 days, so you can go back and check on specific days.

The Ring Spotlight Cam Plus is now $139.99, down from $199.99 and it’s the best price we’ve ever seen for this model, which makes sense since it was only launched this year.

One of the easiest things you can do to improve your home security is to get a smart doorbell. Not only will this help visitors announce when they’re there, but you’ll be able to see who’s outside your door before you open it. You can just check the app and consult the video and you can even have two-way chats with whoever is outside your house.

The app also sends alerts to your phone when there are visitors in front, whether that’s a delivery person, your kids coming back from school, and so on. You can either set this one up on a wire or just pop some batteries in; your choice. This is the lowest price we’ve seen for the Blink Video Doorbell, so you should probably set one up sooner rather than later.

Google Nest Cam with Floodlight

If you want an alternative to the camera with floodlight above, the Google Nest Cam solution is also pretty great. You can use the Google Home app to view the event video history from the past three hours, but you’ll need a Newt Aware subscription for up to 60 days of video history. You can check the live feed via the same app at any time, from anywhere, and control the camera and the floodlight.

When the camera detects motion, it will send you alerts to your phone, but you can customize what it sends and what it doesn’t. The feed is in an impressive 1080p HDR, so you’ll be able to tell all the important details, like faces or license plate numbers. The camera also allows users to chat up their visitors, both wanted and unwanted.

If you want to set up a security system with all the bells and whistles, then you’re going to need a bit more than what we’ve included so far. Reolink, for instance, has a full security system available for Black Friday, featuring four 4K cameras and an 8-channel NVR with a 2TB HDD on board for 24/7 recording. This one will require a bit of effort to set up, some wires and all that, but it’s worth the feeling of security you get once it’s up.

The cameras this package comes with are enough to cover all corners of your home, but if you want more cameras, you can add those up since the NVR can support up to eight of them. The system is $419.99 at Amazon, down from $599.99, so that’s a great discount!

If you want a security camera that can also double up as a baby monitor, then the TP-Link Tapo 2K Pan Tilt Security Camera is the right choice. Of course, you can set this one up anywhere you want at home, even if it’s just to keep an eye on your pets while you’re away, telling them to quit gnawing on your shoes via the two-way audio it supports.

The footage can be stored on a card (up to 256GB) or in the cloud, and you can integrate the camera with Alexa or Google Home. The dedicated app can be sued to pan and tilt the camera, enable or disable motion alarms, and so on. All video is recorded in 2K resolution, so you’ll get a lot more details than you do with many other cameras. Plus, at $29.99 (down from $34.99), it’s a super great deal to snag this Black Friday.

Most of these deals will conclude once Cyber Monday is done too, so please try to make your purchases before then. Also, MUO has no control over the prices and they’re still subject to change. While we try to keep the information updated, discrepancies may appear.
