Summer entertaining season is here, so it’s worth investing in a new set of tableware to impress guests at brunches and alfresco toasts. Thankfully, Aquazzura is entering the homeware scene just in time, so your plates and bowls will look just as stylish as your booties and stilettos.
Founded more than 10 years ago by creative director Edgardo Osorio, Aquazzura has quickly made a name for itself in the realm of women’s footwear. Case in point: Model Karlie Kloss reportedly donned a pair of the brand’s elegant-yet-forgiving silver flats for a portion of the evening at this year’s Met Gala. Now, that sense of style is making its tabletop debut with four elegant-yet-bold collections inspired by Osorio’s various overseas travels.
The first, Jaipur, is inspired by India, with bold blue, pink, and red accents set against a white ceramic backdrop. The reoccurring motif is a pineapple, which adds a bit of fun and whimsy to the set. Aquazzura’s next offering is Cherry Blossom, a line awash in pastel yellows, greens, and pinks that takes cues from Japanese sakura trees. Secret Garden is modeled after 18th-century Chinese porcelain, with serene botanical landscapes adorning each piece. Finally, Tutti Frutti, far and away the most playful of the bunch, features colorful cherry and lemon designs.
Aquazzura brought on designer Fiona Leahy, whose résumé includes mapping out extraordinary parties for the likes of Louis Vuitton and Dita von Teese, as co-creative director of the new collection. Her latest with Aquazzura has just launched at Salone de Mobile in Milan. The brand also partnered for the event with fellow Florence-based manufacturer Officine Gullo to create a capsule collection of stylish new ranges. Combined, the newness makes for a plenty chic summer gathering.
