Pineapple Margarita

Here at Delish, we love our margaritas. We have every variation under the sun: peach, blueberry lemonade, even creamsicle! But when we’re feeling the beach vibes, we reach for a pineapple margarita.

Fresh and fruity with the perfect kick of tequila, this pineapple margarita will take you straight to the shore, frosty glass in hand, in less time than it takes to squeeze those limes.

Read on for tips on making our tropical spin on this classic cocktail. And if you’re on a margarita kick, check out all our favorite margarita variations here.

Do I have to salt the rim?

Absolutely not. We love the way the salt mixes with the cocktail when we take a sip, which brings all the other flavors to life…but we totally understand if that’s not your jam. It’s your cocktail. Make it the way you like it.

Can I blend it with crushed ice and make it a slushy?

Well…yes and no. You can totally make a frozen pineapple margarita, but if that’s your end goal, we’d suggest heading over to our frozen pineapple margarita recipe, which was specifically designed to be frozen, rather than try to reengineer this recipe to be something it’s not. Why complicate things that can be simple?

Can I batch this?

Absolutely. If you’re making cocktails for a crowd, you can just multiply the quantities in the recipe by the number of people you’ll be serving. Pour all of the ingredients into a large glass jar and refrigerate. (We recommend no more than 4 hours, or those limes might get weird!) When you’re ready to serve, be sure to shake the jar well before pouring ½ cup of your pre-batched cocktail mix into each glass and topping them off with ice.

  1. If desired, rub lime wedge around rim of a rocks glass and dip into salt to coat.
  2. In a cocktail shaker or large resealable glass jar, combine pineapple juice, tequila, lime juice, and triple sec. Fill shaker or jar with ice, cover, and shake vigorously until outside of shaker is very cold and condensation forms on the outside, about 30 seconds. Strain into prepared ice-filled glass and garnish with lime and pineapple wedges.
