Frail Queen’s ‘blue hand’ sparks more health concerns at Liz Truss meeting

There are renewed fears for Queen Elizabeth II’s health following the release of photos that show the monarch meeting Britain’s new Prime Minister Liz Truss.

The 96-year-old summoned the conservative politician to Balmoral Castle in Scotland on Tuesday, where she formally asked her to form a new government following the resignation of Boris Johnson.

The queen has appointed 14 prime ministers over the course of her 70-year reign, with the ceremonies usually taking place at Buckingham Palace.

Tuesday marked the first time Her Majesty appointed a prime minister in Scotland, amid speculation she was too frail to travel back to England for the ceremony.

Photos from the meeting were subsequently released to the public, with alarm immediately raised by what appears to be a dark blue bruise on the queen’s right hand.

Hundreds of worried royal watchers took to Twitter to express concern, with one writing: “What is going on with the queen’s hands? All blue and purple?”

The Post has reached out to the queen’s press secretary for an official health update.

However, several armchair medics weighed in on Twitter. “The queen seems to be suffering from circulation issues.. her hands are blue,” one wrote.

“My mom and dad’s hands went like that, I think it’s to do with the skin becoming thinner with age and therefore more susceptible to bruises,” another replied, trying to put the fan’s fears at ease.

Dozens of others claimed the long-serving monarch looked “frail,” with one sharing a photo from her swearing-in ceremony with Johnson back in 2019 in a bid to highlight how her appearance has altered in three years.

The concerns come less than three months after a royal expert claimed photographs show that the queen is “fading away before our very eyes.”

In late June, Daniela Elser penned an op-ed for Australian outlet News.com.AU, saying images of the queen greeting New South Wales Governor Margaret Beazley were “nothing short of alarming.”

The snaps showed Elizabeth II wearing a bright yellow dress as she smiles and shakes hands with the Australian politician inside Windsor Castle.

Elser claims the images are unremarkable until compared with photographs taken of the queen in a similar outfit back in June 2021, when she met former Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

“The difference is truly startling,” the royal expert wrote. “In the intervening 12 months, Her Majesty would appear to have become markedly more stooped, much thinner and overall appears to have shrunk.”

The queen’s health has been in the headlines since October last year when she was spotted using a walking stick for the first time in 17 years. An insider said at the time that the assistance was for her “comfort.”

Her Majesty was hospitalized later that month and consequently canceled a trip to Ireland before returning to royal duties.

In May, a Buckingham Palace statement revealed that the queen would “reluctantly” miss a royal engagement due to “mobility problems.” The decision was made in “consultation with her doctors,” according to the palace.

Meanwhile, in June, the monarch missed Royal Ascot for the first time since her coronation seven decades ago.

She also backed out of events during the massive Platinum Jubilee festivities due to feelings of “discomfort.”
